Hand Arm Vibration Meter

Reactec Limited manufactures the Reactec HAVmeter, the world's first personal device for measuring Hand Arm Vibration. The HAVmeter objectively monitors individuals' exposure to Hand Arm Vibration and alerts the user, in real-time, when they have reached their daily limit. It is designed for use with multiple tools giving a cumulative running total of the vibration dose in line with HSE guidelines.

Reactec engaged A2E to design, develop and test the hardware platform for the HAVmeter and its associated Base Station. A2E worked with Reactec to initially specify the design to match their product requirements and then to develop the design through to manufacturing.

Features of the HAVmeter design include

• Tri-axial Accelerometers for measuring Vibration Levels
• Low power operation from Rechargeable Battery
• Contactless battery charging
• Contactless Data transfer with the Base Station
• RFID Tag Reader (used for tool identification)
• Small form factor

The Base Station acts as the recharge and data interface unit providing docking for up to eight HAVmeters. Features of the Base Station design include

• Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) for contact less recharging of the HAVmeter
• Wireless data download from the HAVmeter
• Smart Card Reader
• LCD Display and Keypad
• Memory Card Interface
